about

Recorded November 2013 in my bedroom. Guitar used is a Yamaha G-65 with steel and nylon strings. Recorded on a TASCAM DP-008.

This is my first album. I wrote it in a short period of time - a period in which I was going through a growing phase emotionally. I wanted to capture the emotions and feelings that went along with some of the things I was experiencing, as well as some of the things I've experienced in the past four years. I focused on themes and mood, as well as atmosphere - I wanted something that was a portrait of me using palette of emotions to paint.

Some of these themes include: Loneliness, addiction, self-hatred, self-mutilation, depression, anxiety, heartbreak, issues with self-image and identity, anger, alienation, isolation, loss, change, dependence, nihilism, darkness, losing hope, getting older, fear, paranoia, and drifting apart from friends.

Lyrically, it is a very personal album. Sonically, the mood is tense and increasingly frantic as the album plays on. The guitar work takes a backseat to the vocals, which are raw and powerful. That doesn't mean I neglected the guitar work - I put a lot of effort and time into it, actually. It just means I wanted to focus on the strength of the voice to tell the story I wanted to tell.

There will be a sister EP released shortly after the album. More details coming on that soon. I do hope you enjoy the record. And I hope you can gain something from it - I did.
